GeoLayers Sample
A GeoLayers map animation project created to demonstrate my motion design skills. The video combines AI-assisted script development, ElevenLabs voice generation, GeoLayers animation in After Effects, and final sound design and editing in Premiere Pro.
AI Voice Production
The narration was generated using ElevenLabs' "Alex – Young American Male" voice model. After generating the voice-over, I refined the pacing in Premiere Pro by manually adjusting pauses and sentence spacing to create a more natural, conversational delivery and improve the overall viewing experience.
After Effects Breakdown
Using GeoLayers inside After Effects, I transformed geographic data into a cinematic map animation. The project explores the ongoing separation of the Somali Plate from the African Plate, highlighting how the East African Rift is reshaping the continent. Through custom camera work and map-based visualization, the animation showcases the formation of massive cracks and lakes along the rift zone, the displacement of nearby communities, and the potential for some landlocked countries to gain coastlines in the distant future.
SFX Breakdown
The sound design was created in Premiere Pro using a layered approach to enhance pacing, transitions, and visual impact. A combination of pops, clicks, cracks, digital data sounds, typing effects, and cinematic whooshes was carefully selected and synchronized with the animation to create a more immersive and engaging viewing experience.
